Privacy policy

This policy is short because there’s genuinely little to disclose: no accounts, no stored download history, no database.

The short version

We don’t have accounts, we don’t store what you download, and we don’t sell data — we don’t have data worth selling. One localStorage key remembers your dark-mode choice. That’s the whole footprint.

1. What we process, transiently

When you use the YouTube downloader to request a download, the YouTube URL you pasted is sent to our server, forwarded to a video-data API to fetch the available formats, and returned to your browser. It is not written to any database — the site doesn’t have one. The actual video file travels from a direct download link to you and never passes through us. That direct link expires after a few hours — nothing about your download lingers on our side.

2. What our hosting provider may log

Like nearly every website, the infrastructure this site runs on keeps standard request logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention, retained according to the host’s own policy. We won’t claim “zero logs” — no site using commercial hosting honestly can.

3. The thumbnail tool

The thumbnail downloader runs entirely in your browser. Those image requests go directly from your device to YouTube’s public image servers — they never reach ours, and we cannot see them.

4. Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit and which pages are useful. It sets a few first-party cookies (such as _ga) and collects standard, aggregated data — pages viewed, approximate region, device and browser type — but it does not identify you personally and is never linked to the URLs you paste or the files you download. Google’s handling of this data is governed by its own privacy policy, and you can opt out on every site with Google’s browser add-on. Aside from analytics there is no fingerprinting, and the only thing the site itself stores in your browser is a single “theme” key for the dark-mode toggle.

5. Third-party services

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC) provides the aggregated visitor statistics described above — it receives standard analytics data, not your identity.
  • A video-data API resolves format information for the URL you paste (it receives the video ID, not your identity).
  • Fonts are self-hosted with the site — nothing is fetched from font CDNs.
  • Video thumbnails are served by YouTube’s image CDN (i.ytimg.com / img.youtube.com); your browser requests them directly.

6. Children

This site is not directed at children under 13.

7. Changes to this policy

Changes appear on this page with an updated date at the top. There’s no mailing list to notify because we don’t have your email.
